SH. Ali Jawhari secondary
The Sheekh Ali Jawhari secondary school was built brick by brick, by the local community. People from Borama region, joined hands and built it without any help form outside.
This is the school where the clan-elders stayed for month, in 1993 and had daily meetings. The place where Egal was appointed as the second president of Somaliland, after president Tuur.
Amud University
Amud University was the first university in the whole of Somaliland, after the independence in 1991. Before that it was one of the first two secondary schools, back in the days when Somaliland was a British protectorate.
This is the view from one of the lecture halls.
The former Somaliland president Riyale en the current president Silanyo, both graduated from Amud secondary school.
